In this study, the driving cycle of Semnan urban buses was extracted and analyzed based on operational data recorded from the city bus fleet. The data were collected over a total distance of 750 km in urban routes and, after preprocessing, were divided into individual micro-trips. To identify driving behavior patterns, the micro-trips were grouped using the K-means clustering algorithm, and the optimal number of clusters was determined automatically using the elbow method. Then, by a targeted combination of selected micro-trips, an 1800-second cycle was formed that represents the variations in speed, acceleration, braking, and stopping behavior of the fleet. The results showed that the driving behavior of Semnan buses is mainly characterized by relatively low average speeds, mild accelerations, and frequent stops, reflecting the traffic conditions of the city’s public transport network. Moreover, comparison of the extracted cycle with those of other cities revealed significant differences due to geographical and traffic conditions. Finally, smoothing of the final cycle using the Savitzky–Golay filter reduced instantaneous noise and improved the stability of the speed profile. The proposed cycle can be used for fuel consumption simulation, emission estimation, and performance analysis of the bus fleet.
