In this paper, a new engine that can operate in two modes of compressed air engine and compressor has been analyzed and investigated. In this structure, there are two reciprocating pistons in two opposite positions to each other, which operate in two separate cylinders. A common connecting rod has also been used in the power transmission mechanism between the crankshaft and the pistons. In the compressed air engine mode, mechanical rotary valves have been used to control the flow of fluid the engine, and the power generated by the pistons is transferred to the common connecting rods and crankshaft.
This engine was first designed and after confirming the stress analysis of the parts in the software, it was made and then data was collected. The data of this engine was collected and analyzed using sensors and electronic equipment. The results of this research include experimental analysis, thermodynamic analysis, and simulation.
In the experimental results obtained from the performance of the mechanism in the form of a power generation engine, the average output speed of the engine at a relative pressure of 5 bar is 190 rpm, the engine output is equal to 870 watts. The results of engine analysis through the extracted relationships, modeling solution, Simulation in Software and experimental data also indicate the overlap and appropriate consistency of engine analysis.
