The ambient thermodynamic conditions (pressure, temperature, humidity) are function of altitude from
sea level, and climate conditions, so that density and physical conditions of air are affected. On the other
hand, the Standards of performance and emission of internal combustion engines have been enacted in sea
level conditions, so one of the problems of performance and emission test is the lack of sea level conditions
in test place. In this article, to provide different conditions of inlet air, concerning pressure, temperature
and humidity, a system was developed, then by using this system, emission tests (8 modes and 13 modes) in
different thermodynamic conditions of inlet air, on 5 prototype diesel engine are performed. Finally making
relation between internal combustion engines emissions and inlet air thermodynamic conditions, correction
coefficients for NOX and PM were achieved. Concerning the large number of performed tests and insuring
accuracy and precision, the range of correction factors have been determined accurately by using error
analysis.
